Negotiations Update (for general release)
As you are all aware, SUPA's negotiation team met at the CO last week for the first round of negotiations. Generally speaking these meetings are confidential until we reach an agreement or come to some sort of impasse. Our negotiations team collected what our members thought was important and brought it to the CSU. The first meeting lasted about two hours, and we went point by point over sunshine proposal with them. The CSU gave us about three of there proposals none of which were concessions and told us they would have to hold off on the rest until the state had a budget. It is imperative for the directors to convey to your members that this will be a long process, with many meetings and will not be something that we complete quickly. Our next meeting will be sometime in late August early September. I am pleased with our negotiation team members, VP Mike Johnson, Secretary Yolanda Harris, Treasurer Yolanda Abundiz, and Director Dan Borgstrom from Channel Island. We also have an alternate Matt Kroner from CSUS. Senior partner Dieter Dammeier from LD&M represented us and we are very pleased with his work as well as with the rest of the firm. If anyone would like more information, please contact me directly and I would be happy to speak with you. As soon as I have more information I will let you know.
